Maurits van Tol is Senior Vice President Innovation and Technology and joined Borealis in 2012 after spending about 19 years in the chemical industry with DSM, holding various international managerial roles. He has a broad experience in senior leadership positions in R&D and in marketing as well as in business development, and in senior general management roles such as VP bio-based chemicals and materials, VP for R&D, Innovation, Business Development, IPR and Licensing in the rubber industry and as Business Manager for Oil Additives.
Maurits van Tol graduated, with a Masters in Chemistry, from Leiden University in The Netherlands, during which time he spent a year at UEA Norwich, UK. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Leiden University with a part of the work done at UC Berkeley, USA. He holds 18 patents to his name and he has published over 30 scientific articles. His research was amongst others honoured by the Royal Dutch Chemical Society and Leiden University.
Maurits also serves on the Advisory Board of OCSiAl, a leading player in the carbon nanotechnology space.
