Ahmed Omar Abdulla is the Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Polymers Company Limited (Borouge), a leading manufacturer of polyolefins based in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, since May 2016.
Mr. Ahmed has spent his entire career with the ADNOC Group of Companies and therefore has extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry, having held senior positions in General Management, Refining Management, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Planning and Technical, Business Support and Marketing Management (Sales & Marketing of Refined Products, LPG, LNG & Crude Oil, Transportation & Shipping).
Mr. Ahmed is currently a Board Member of ADNOC Logistics & Services and Chairman of various Board Advisory Committees. Previously, he was a Member of the Borouge Pte Ltd Board of Directors and Chairman of Borouge’s Marketing Projects Steering Committee (MPSG). These positions have enabled him to acquire a strong experience in polyolefin manufacturing operations as well as in supply chain, compounding and international marketing as well as sales operations.
Prior to joining Borouge, Mr. Ahmed was the Chief Operating Officer of the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (TAKREER). While at the same company, he took up several managerial positions including Assistant General Manager (Operations), Ruwais Refinery Manager, Abu Dhabi Refinery Manager, and Division Manager, Planning & Technical Support. Mr Ahmed started his career with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as Department Manager for Products and Gas Supply in the Marketing & Refining Directorate.
Significantly, Mr. Ahmed has a vast experience in the integration of refining and petrochemical processes and has presented technical papers in various conferences on the subject. He was also involved in linear programmes and optimisation, in addition to leading and executing many programmes in operational excellence, business continuity, cyber security, organisational development and performance enhancement.
Mr. Ahmed is a UAE National and holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Governance & Leadership, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
